The SKF Machine Condition Advisor is a rugged, easy-to-use, hand held device that simultaneously measures vibration signals and temperature to indicate machine health and bearing damage - providing early warning of machine problems before a costly breakdown occurs.
Essential plant equipment such as pumps, fans, motors, compressors, gear boxes, cranes and conveyors rely on bearings to keep machines running.

Multiple measurements with a single device
 
The SKF Machine Condition Advisor provides an overall "Velocity" vibration reading that measures vibration signals from the machine and automatically compares them to pre-programmed International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guidelines. An "alert" or "danger" alarm displays when measurements exceed those guidelines.
 
Accuracy, flexibility and confidence
 
When performing measurements, the Machine Condition Advisor's acceleration sensor input signal is processed to produce two different measurements for each POINT on the machinery - overall velocity and enveloped acceleration. At the same time, the SKF Machine Condition Advisor's non-contact infrared sensor measures the surface temperature of the measurement location and simultaneously displays all three measurements.

SKF TMEH 1 OilCheck Oil Condition Meter

The TMEH 1 OilCheck detects and measures the dielectric constant of oil. By comparing the measurements obtained from used and unused oils of the same brand, the SKF OilCheck is able to determine the degree of change in the condition of the oil. Dielectric change is directly related to the degradation and the contamination level of the oil and will allow the user to achieve optimised intervals between oil changes and detect increased mechanical wear and loss of the oils lubricating properties. To facilitate trending the instrument is equipped with a numerical read-out.
 
Through its comparative operation OilCheck is able to show changes in oil condition affected by water content, fuel contamination, metallic content and oxidation, to within a typical repeatability factor of better then five per cent. These results in turn provide an indication of the loss of lubricating properties of the oil and also of and mechanical wear in the equipment in which the oil is used. The TMEH 1 is a compact (250mm x 95mm x 32mm) unit that will last for more than 150 hours or 3,000 tests on one 9V alkaline battery.

SKF-TKGT 1 Grease Test Kit

Portable grease analysis kit for use in the field
 
Lubricant analysis is a vital part of a predictive maintenance strategy. However, until now, this has been almost completely related with oils, despite the fact that around 80% of bearings are lubricated with grease. Tribology knowledge and years of research have allowed SKF to develop a complete methodology to assess greases condition directly in the field.
 
The SKF Grease Test Kit TKGT 1 has been designed to properly apply this methodology. By using it, three different tests can be performed: consistency (patent applied for), oil bleeding properties and contamination. This allows the user to have a good understanding of the grease condition and take decisions directly in the field. The
SKF TKGT 1 includes guidelines for properly interpreting the results of the tests.
 
For fresh greases SKF TKGT 1 can help to establish the remaining shelf life of the grease, as well as assesing the consistency of the quality level among different production batches. When testing used greases, the results will help the user to evaluate such things as: the suitability of the tested grease for the application, the accuracy of relubrication intervals, and the possible sources when contamination occurs.
